"At the Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays, thousands of visitors enjoy free programs of art and entertainment each month from 5 to 11 p.m. All evening long, the Museum Café serves a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages, and a cash bar offers wine and beer. Parking is a flat rate of $4 starting at 5 p.m. All other Saturdays, the Museum closes at 6 p.m."

**Highlights from August's schedule:**

Theme: Konbit Haiti (Together for Haiti)

Dance: 4:30 p.m.
Peniel Guerrier and Tamboula dance troupe, presented in conjunction with Haiti Cultural Exchange.

Music: 5–7 p.m.
La Troupe Makandal uses Haitian drumming to represent Haiti’s history and culture.

Film: 6–7:30 p.m.
Poto Mitan: Haitian Women, Pillars of the Global Economy (Renée Bergan and Mark Schuller, 2009, 50 min., NR). Documentary about the lives and struggles of Haitian women workers. Co-director Renée Bergan introduces the film and answers questions after the screening. Free tickets (30) are available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

Performance: 7:30–8:30 p.m.
Master drummer Frisner Augustin of La Troupe Makandal leads a drum circle. Bring your drum!

Discussion: 8 p.m.
Sabine Toussaint leads a community discussion about rebuilding Haiti.

Dance Party: 9–11 p.m.
Brooklyn-based Haitian DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry and the Earthman Experience present a Haitian Carnival-style dance party with compas, soca, calypso, and other world music.

Tonight! KAMPE ANSAM!’s Benefit Bazaar for Yéle Haiti & Doctors Without Borders

Tonight, Sunday, January 24, a local coalition of artists and small business owners will be hosting KAMPE ANSAM! (STAND TOGETHER!), a Haiti relief fundraising benefit, at Southpaw in Brooklyn. The benefit will raise critically needed funds to help support the humanitarian efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake which struck near Port-au-Prince on January 12th. All proceeds collected from the door admission and raffle prizes will go to the organizations Yéle Haiti and Doctors Without Borders.

KAMPE ANSAM! will feature a variety of pulsating live musical performances by artists who have donated their time and talents to this grassroots effort.The benefit will also feature raffles of products and services donated by local businesses. In addition, select vendors will have products on sale and a portion of their proceeds will also go to Yéle Haiti and Doctors Without Borders.

Robert Randolph & the Family Band will be hosting a very special jam session to support the American Red Cross' ongoing efforts in Haiti. This special night of music, taking place on January 20th will bring the spirit of the many jam sessions Robert led at the Wetlands Preserve to the Brooklyn Bowl and will feature friends and special guests throughout the evening.

"In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, we have decided to convert our upcoming show to a fundraiser for the Haiti releif efforts.

ALL proceeds will be donated to Direct Relief and Red Cross immediately after the show. www.directrelief.org
